CAA Outdoor Track & Field — North Carolina A&T Men & Hampton Women Lead HBCU Presence in Deep Conference Battles

The Coastal Athletic Association delivered another high-level championship meet in 2026, with North Carolina A&T on the men’s side and Hampton on the women’s side leading the HBCU presence in one of the deepest sprint conferences in Division I track & field.

On the men’s side, North Carolina A&T remained the premier HBCU sprint program in the conference, producing strong performances in the 100m, 200m, and relay events to stay in championship contention. While the CAA title race featured heavy depth across multiple non-HBCU programs, the Aggies once again proved they can score at a high level in pure speed events and remain a constant factor in the overall standings.

On the women’s side, Hampton continued to represent HBCU track at a strong level, backed by competitive relay squads and consistent sprint scoring. However, the CAA’s depth across distance and field events ultimately separated the top of the standings, with non-HBCU programs holding the edge in total team scoring.

For HBCU programs, the CAA remains a proving ground where elite sprint talent must compete against full-spectrum team depth from across the conference.
